Easy Brackets

n8sv8 - great pictures, thanks. That will remove some of the guess work :?

Trumpet - thanks to you too - I'll have a look at the site.

By the way n8sv8, looks like nice weather in your part of the world. Do I detect a ZZR owner in a previous life, like us?

Yeah, the license plate gave me away huh! I had an 04 ZZR1200 before I got this one. I have to think up a new plate now! Oh and the weather here was in the 80's yesterday.

I bought Easy Brackets from the States and found the paint quality is crap. It flakes off on the edges and corners just from handling them, and then they rust! I'll be repainting them soon.

Also, as already mentioned, they are heavy. :( I bought small hard cases that fall over because the weight of the brackets unbalance them and are impoosible to carry as luggage so I leave them on the bike and use inner bags.

Apart from all that... the mounts are unobtrusive and it's easy to mount and remove the cases. :)

I filled the extra holes with black rtv last night. I'll get some more photo's up once they have set up properly.

Trumps, I got a letter this am telling me the easy brackets were ready for collection from Witton, (Brum B6). No attempt had been made to deliver, it was a bit of bad info. on the USPS track and confirm weblink. Look out!!! £18.17 VAT and £13.50 handling charge will make your eyes water, but I've got them and fitted the mounting posts in abour 15 mins. I've cleaned the panniers and they will dry overnight. Fitting the backplates tomorrow, after I've helped my eldest daughter move house!

Thanks Paul - mine havent arrived and if I get a VAt and handling charge of £31 it was hardly worth going to USA. Drofsereb will have a fit............
Are you making special back plates for the triumph panniers?

As posted on another thread, I won't have a fit - I'll order and hope that this might be one of those times when Customs overlook me :? Knowing my luck though...

There is someone knocking them out on Ebay for £149 who is based in Edinburgh, just along the road from me. Even though I might end up only saving £10 I will do it as a matter of principle!

By the way, we've heard mention of how heavy these things are - Any of you replacing the Triumph brackets that ould do a comparison weighing?

TAKE CARE when tightening the mounts on the bike. If you torque the front mounts to the setting for the stock bolts (64Nm) you will damage the chrome side covers and the brackets may not line up correctly.

Having learnt the hard way, I now just tighten mine 'til they feel tight.

Paul - I used some thin aluminium sheet for backing my bags, then covered it with some black leather offcuts from an upholsterer (although I could have painted it).

I had to buy a bloody great sheet of the stuff, and have loads left over.

If you want some, let me know & I'll cut you off a lump.
