I did the same thing for the same reason. There is a step on the inner face of the leatherlyke bags so it is difficult to mount them with these brackets. I turned some spacers out of 2" dia. nylon, redrilled the mounting holes and blanked off the originals. It's now a much more solid set up. When I drilled the mounting holes I positioned the bags for a good fit and to allow more room for a passenger's feet. I'll send a pic in a minute.
Thanks for the input, TT
.I will make a similar spacer. Did you have to cut off the polyurethane slide and the protruding bag area that rubs on the spring,or is it sufficiently far away from the spring to not need it ?
No problem. I set my bags a little high and back as you can tell. Not sure why exactly but you may see when you try yours. I know I set them back for clearance on the passengers legs. I remember putting a large chamfer on the front spacers as they were close to the radius on the bag.
P.S. don't install the nuts and bolts the way I did but reverse them as the sharp end of the bolt will cut a beer can with disastrous results
I still have to fix mine!
