Dyno run results with Jardines, K&N, Seat mod, Iridium P

quick update:

1. under-tank K&N mod is in - didn't feel much different but it should help after tune.

2. Removed PCIII Accelerator feature as I want a fule dyno tune without it
and MD says it may just be wasting fuel.

3. Took an average of the map I had (Jardine averaged with MDs) and
averaged it again with MDs except I put the 0 throttle 1250 RPM and
higer values back in as the backfiring returned when I lowered them.

4. Going on the dyno Wednesday - yeah.

5. Read up on the resistor mod. May do it this weekend.

I also sent Jardine a second email for help on the painful axhaust
harmonic problem. It is no longer improving and will cause hearing loss
eventually if I don't get it resolved. Ear plugs didn't work.

It looks like everything is tightened up OK (too tight?) and all the chrome
pieces appear to be installed properly and nothing is vibrating against
the frame as far as I can tell.

I guess I could loosen the mounts to see if it is bound up.

I was also thinking about using heat wrap underneath where the two
pipes connect.

Luckily, my MP3 player headphones seem to help mask the problem.

I have a 1,000 mile trip coming up and it is going suck if I have a headache the whole time...

New Dyno tune & map results

Ok, the local dyno shop with the recently trained technicians had my
bike for 5hrs today (not sure how long I was actually on the machine
but it looks like about 40 miles was added).

What I liked: not much
What I didn't like: $294 & not much gain, huge dip remains at 2150RPM,
Shop played mind game to show how much work they did by saying I
was at 120HP/131TQ Max BEFORE and 144HP/141TQ AFTER, but if you
look at the map below they cut off the pre-tune values at 4800RPM
or did something else as I was at 142HP two weeks ago and only added
the under-tank mod! - They must think people are stupid - oh yeah its a Harley shop!

Please take a look and see if these look right - I would expect the Torque to be smoother...

Here is the new map (they didn't update the description though - must have to pay extra fr that).

Its actually not far off from MDs, but is different in a few areas.

They said I was running lean and I could swear that the ringing is slightly impoved.

Hi Jeff, yes I live close to the Log Cabin. Glad you made it. We now have
3 and hopefully can find some more R3s to come out there. There are
at least 10 in this area but I have never seen anyone except Scooch.

Here is the dyno run itself after the $300 tune. 144HP/141Torque.

It does feel a bit smoother now and maybe there is some extra pull at the lower end - hard to tell...

Hey buddy, I don't think your numbers are too bad.

Here are mine. The blue line is TORs and stock intake.

The red line is stock intake and Jardines.

The green line is Jardines and triple K&Ns. Notice the dip I had ( red line)

with the Jardines and the stock intake and then the improvement (green line) with the triples.
The under the tank mod is only good for a couple of horsepower and that is what you got.
The triples are obviously the way to go, but if you don't want them, then
you should be satisfied with your gains.
Good luck and take care, Jethro

Yes indeed, the beast needs more air to breath and the triples are the only way to get it!

For now I am quite happy with 144HP and will see what novel solutions for under-claw,
modified claw, or claw replacements come out over the next year.

If someone makes a form fitting clear or lightly smoked or tinted claw-like triple K&N cover
I would buy it.

Now where was that Radio Shack........

:p

Yeah, just about every graph I've seen has shown more TQ than HP. I was hoping
someone would comment on what might be the reason for my "lower" TQ.

I'm bringing it to the dealer to see about the ringing noise that started after the Jars
were installed and I'll show them the graphs. Maybe its related - dunno.

I put in new NGKs awhile back so maybe one or more has the wrong gapping? - I'll have
them check that out as well...

I do know that the bike is running awesome otherwise and that I'd better get the new
EBC brake pads on soon because I find myself needing them more as the extra power has
possesed my wrist and commands it to twist the throttle even more these days.
