Dumb question. Whats a "TORS" tune?

Hi guys,

I posted earlier about getting my PCV and Autotune. It came in today and someone told me to just install the TORS tune and let the autotune module do the rest. What exactly is meant by Tors Tune? I've had power commanders before and was able to load the exact maps for my bike from the dynojet site but in my case, they don't have the mad dog pipes listed.

Thanks,
Buzz

Dynojet R3 maps are basic all you can do is load the map for slipon aftermarket pipes to start with.. then ask Hanso nicely ;) for one of his hybrid maps such as the Wayne Tripp version or a special map Hanso has thats suitable..

Im sure Hanso will be along sortly to help ya :)

What Dennsell said. Hanso's the man when it comes to this stuff.

But to answer your specific question, the "TORs tune" is the retune that Triumph developed to load in the ECU when the Triumph Off Road (TOR) pipes are fitted. It is mapped to provide increased fuelling to accommodate the freer flowing exhaust. One way it does that is to close the secondary butterflies a little to provide a richer mix - sort of a choking effect. If you remove secondaries or use Tune ECU to open them 100% you are actually working against the stock Triumph tunes and will run lean, necessitating something like a PCV or Dobeck to correct it.

I presume, from what Dennsell says, Dynojet also has similar maps for slip-on pipes but I don't know whether or how they accommodate different diameter pipes. e.g. Staintune slip ons are 1/4" larger than TORs. Don't know what size MadDogs, Madass, Thunderbike etc are so can't tell you if the TORs tune is the one for you to start with.

The way I understand it is that Dynojet supply a basic AFR map roughly fueling richer for open exhaust.. then the AT O2 sensor regulates the fuel requirement and stores it to a flash memory which becomes the master AFR map for your bike.. after some 100 kms of thrashing the beast :D you accept the flash memory map and it then becomes the new master AFR map overriding the original bike ECU AFR fueling map...

Unless you import the PCv master map into the Bike ECU assuming you are happy with the performance.. the bike ECU AFR map will stay original, meaning what ever you pre loaded into the ECU

I imported my PCv map into the ECU and the cleared the PCv settings and let it start over modifying the settings again.. and it does take a little time depending on your style of riding :)

You do need a little understanding on fuel adlustment settings to manipulate the AFR and fine tune if you are into this sort of thing..
