DMV rules suck!!!!

for about the last twenty years when i go through the emission test they ask what the mileage is so one year i tell them low miles and the next year i tell them high miles. they probably think i have about 2 million mile on her.
maybe this year i will tell them the real mileage is 31286 what the speedo has said for 40 years

If you have been married for any length of time I dont see why she would need a lawyer to sell something with only your name on the title. Unless your state is not a community property state.

Here in Oklahoma if if your spouse's name is not in the title and you die she is in a world of trouble, it will take judges and lawyers to get everything sorted out, all of my titles weather is real state or vehicles read my name "or" my wife's name, that way no need for lawyers or a will, simplifies things and cheaper this way

You know, all our cars are like that for that reason, but I never thought about the bikes. That's OK, she can sign my name better than me. My mom always said she signed my dad's name better, too. She said the bank used to call and check when he signed a check himself, didn't match, LOL.

Virginia is not community property, and you can put ownership in two names, but to super simplify, you can put personal property in two names with the added comment "or survivor". That way the surviving owner doesn't have to do anything, they just take over the piece of property. If a property is in one name only it goes to the estate on death and the executor has to figure out what to do with it. Simple estates don't probate very long though and it's usually not difficult to disburse an estate, if there is a will.

Here in Canada they do ask but we say its a restoration and your working on it.They usually just go by the year. You do have to have it appraised for a value of some kind, to pay taxes on it. What is on the odometer is what goes when you sell it.

hope not but this is Oklahoma so nothing surprises me anymore
Ooooklahoma where the Sun come beatin' down the plain...la la...Isn't that where Senator Shortey got caught in the Motel w/underaged man while cheating on his wife? No wonder the laws are all askew...can't keep their minds on business!

Not doin' that, Captain skydog1000...just speculating as to why certain seemingly simple rules of licensing might be "mistaken". I lived Wichita back in the 70's and used to ride my old Beezer down to your fine State all the time. Hated to have to go back!
