Discontinuing models - What's going on?

The only places i could find saying they were discontinued were euro sites. I can believe it won't meet euro4, sounds like nothing remotely fun will. Hopefully all 3 will continue in the us and aus until our gov'ts do the same to us.

I always wondered if i should've tried a vmax before i bought the rocket. I got to sit on one for the first time the other day, and quickly realized it wasn't for me. It was designed for someone under 6' tall, preferably skinny. Its a tiny little thing. Just the same it's definitely an icon and id hate to see it go.

If the rocket does get dropped, i think I'm going to buy a new one, or the lowest mileage i can find, and keep it forever, because i don't think anyone will ever build a mc more perfectly suited to my taste. More likely we have already seen 'peak motorcycle', as bikes get more choked by emissions, and impossible to modify.

In 85 I bought a ZG1300 and had it for over 20 years. 15 of them with a sidecar. At the 10 year mark I bought a second ZG1300 to use solo. I thought it was the bike that had been designed for me. I would have gone out and bought another one if they still made them. Fortunately they don't and now I have been fortunate enough to own a Rocket.
I think that no matter what the fun police try to do with legislation there will always be an unexpected gem appear. I only hope I am still able to afford throw a leg over it.

They may be niche and not volume bikes but that's why you pay a blooming premium price for them!!

Maybe back home but over here in the states they are very very very very affordable definitely not a high price bike.

My guess is that ONLY a few TOP DEALER PRINCIPALS really know - and most of them know the value of secrecy (to stay as top dealer principals). But it would require a serious rework of the R3 ECU/O2-sensors etc to pass Euro4. And frankly after 10+ years I doubt the sales are there to justify the mod's. There are enough dealers saying they have the last ones to indicate that SOMETHING is up.

A NEW ROCKET - maybe down the road - but if you were Triumph would you TELL FOLK NOW? - Nobody would buy the OLD stock. You'll know if all of a sudden all R3's for sale (in the EU) are suddenly registered and sold as 0-mile dealer bikes. But read on an Aussie site that the Hayabusa is going - One of the KTM's too. Ducati have already made a smaller Paningale because the original wont pass Euro4. Honda announced one of the FAST 600's will no longer be sold in the EU.

Other bikes have disappeared from lines ups already this year. Most a bit long in the tooth and unable to pass Euro4.

Hard to believe anyone would consider any of these 3 bikes as expensive when $50K Harleys are as common as a penny....
