Differences between old three exhausts and new two style

As owner of an R 07 Classic would like to know witch is the difference and real improvement of the new 2 type exhaust if there is one. Of course would love to know which one as real owners you prefer . I LOVE MY THREE EXHAUST SYSTEM
 
I doubt there's much in it performance wise; both are designed to work with the engine and as long as they flow OK there shouldn't be any real difference from just from using 2 or 3 pipes. However, in my opinion, if it wasn't for the symmetry, 2 pipes on a 3 cylinder bike makes as much sense as 3 pipes would on a 4 cylinder bike. I prefer 1 pipe for each cylinder or 1 pipe for all. Personal preference. It's a Rocket III so 3 pipes portray the character of the bike better, IMO.
 
Well it takes all kinds...... I am just in the process of fitting the Roadster twin pipe system to my Classic. I will have to change my avatar.

It wasn't the three pipes I disliked, just the way they splayed out wide at the back - Roadster pipes run parallel.

I thought I read somewhere that the Roadster system gave a small increase in torque, could be remembering that wrong though.
 
I'm currently running a 3 into 1 system.
stock header, harley drag pipe welded onto it.
Eventually though I'll have a 3 straight equal length system.
 
I like the three pipes personally
It's the main reason I don't like the looks of the roadster
Not that it's two pipes
But they are just to big looking with little holes in the end
The three pipe system I think looks better
Preds look even better but you were talking stock exhaust
MADD dogs are nice and don't splay out but alas they don't make those any more
 
I doubt there's a difference. There's probably a weight saving and maybe a different sound, but I can't say.
What I can say is that my 3-1 custom full system just sounds awesome. It has a loud, fast, raspy sound which I love as opposed to say a growling sound. It's hard to describe.
Maybe the 2 pipes gives better, quicker extraction of gases which may work better for the engine.
My 2 cents.
 

Great minds think alike The stock exhaust was fugly I hated the splayed out look so I bought the MadDogs best thing to come out of Australia since Judith Durham.
