Darkside

It took me about 4 or 5 years to get on board with running a darkside. I monitored what folks had to say here and other bike forums and the results were always the same. It seems 98% of those who try it never go back. The only thing I've noticed is at a stand still or at a very low speed while traveling over uneven pavement the bike bike will try and lean or tip to the low side. On the road I can't tell any difference and I ride on the aggressive side.

As for the replacement side I installed a 195/55/16 run flat and it's a little short. My speedo is off approximately 10% and at interstate speeds the engine is whining a little too tight for comfort. But that's running 75mph. If mother Triumph would have given us a 6th gear it would work fine. I would recommend what a lot of the others are using 205/60/16. I tried a 205/65/16 and it looked like it may have been a little too tall. Other than being a little wider, the 205 should be near perfect.

It's getting dark in here!
New rubber for the Hub trip. Feels squirrely but I had to get used to it on the Valk too. Instead of directional tread I went with a rounder profile, just like I had on the Valk for 20K miles before I sold it to go Rocketing.

watch it in the wet.. non directional

I have an 08' touring and I am running an Altimax HP 205-60-16

It has about 4500 miles on it and still looks like it did the day I put it on. The dealer balanced it on the machine and then added Dyna Beads making it one of the smoothest riding tires I have ever had. Interstate cruising is very nice where I avoided before.

I intend to remove it at 10k miles as I encountered something at around 118 I had not noticed before, a big wobble. It did not freak me out and was managable but I would not want to do it again. On straight stretches crusing up to 80 is great, in tight twist especially on variable surface levels it is a noticeable change.

Good Luck

I noticed the same thing except I noticed it was on a road where they had grooved the pavement many years ago. It was worn down to wher you could barely tell that it was grooved. It is straight as an arrow on smooth surfaces. I just keep that in mind when I notice it.
