Custom saddlebag lid top embellishers

I recently bought a pair of these custom fender bibs to try out as saddlebag lid top embellishers worked well have taken some pics fitted on my saddlebags but need to upload them (a 1st for me so be patient)








Great communication with seller Steve:

"Mate as per the e-bay listing - these are originally made & shaped to fit America/Speedmaster rear guards.
The Total Length top curved edge to bottom point = 350 mm.
Width from top curved edge = 75 mm with a gentle 15 mm taper to Bottom shoulders of point width = 60 mm ... Hole Centres = 275 mm
Can be easily straightened or curved to suit your needs."

Kiwi national symbol silver fern leaf motif - a very 'tribal' look, I think the nicest design but a loaded image in Oz don't want everyone to think I am a Kiwi nothing wrong with being one just give the wrong message:

I have taken some pics fitted on my saddlebags, crap photographer and may need to retake without flash

The fender bibs worked perfectly - used the 2 matching ones on the Rocket 3 Roadster leather saddlebags lids and the taper with scalloped tips worked well. Flattened the main length and put a curve in the scalloped tips using a wooden mallet as the form,and a rubber mallet to shape them to fit the curve of the bags lids at the back.

Yeah, hard surface would be better but the top of the leather saddlebags are reasonably reinforced. I may need to look at some thin dual sided tape as would prefer not to glue them down with contact shoe sole cement as it can easily be very messy. Due to the inner liner the supplied hex Allen head stainless bolts with nylock nuts are about the right length and do not protrude inside when tightened until the bolt just starts to emerge. I did use the supplied 1.5" wide x 1/16" thick rubber sealing washers under the steel on top of the lid which does lift them a little too. These are probably not required as using drills slightly less than bolt widths means they have to be screwed though the lid and reinforcing plate so likely to be waterproof anyway.
