NO disrespect, however I personally do NOT feel this is safer.
It does provide a permanent distraction and impediment to a rider's view forward.
Occasional glanced to the mirrors is less distracting and safer - IMHO.
 


How do you like the bluetooth communicator?
I recently got the M1 with communicator and my ride to RAA XI will be my first trial run.
 
Eventually this technology will be the norm, and there will certainly be improvements. I'm actually more intrigued by their marketing strategy so far! They have an online store with 11 items you can buy right now, including a $22 dollar water bottle with their logo, or a $60 skateboard? Maybe they'll make a skateboard helmet with a self centering gyroscope
But so far................no helmets??????? Really.

I have had it over 3 years now & only use it for my tomtom navigation device....I can tell you its fantastic, buttons & button seperators can easly be felt & used even with winter gloves. One press to connect to tomtom, volume buttons beep at every press so you know whats going on & if you are adjusting up or down....nice big buttons & good volume.
Battery life is Unbelievable even after three years charging it now and again it has never run down completely even with months between a charge...when touring I would charge it every day and then ride for eight hours with no problem.

Wow that is a lot of money for head gear. I kind of like HJC. Simple functional and can leave it on the seat with out the concern of someone borrowing it when I am not around. Then again my idea of navigation system is A old fashion map and a cup of coffee. The voices that speak to me are all I need for verbal entertainment
 
Neat concept,but when I decided to ride again after a 20 year hiatus,I took a rider safety course...grilled into our heads,and rightfully so,BE AWARE of what's around you,constant mirror checks,shoulder checks while changing lanes,and so on. I personally would rather be aware,alert and defensive in my riding,than be complacent that a battery operated device would warn be of trouble from behind. If you buy it,I would most certainly follow your opinion on how it serves you.
My wife's new car has the lights that flash in the side mirrors that warn of a car beside you,my question to her was,why don't you just shoulder check before switching lanes like you were taught in drivers ed when you were 16.I programmed her car so that when I drive it with my key,the flashing lights don't go off,I found them distracting.

Wasn't it you that was razing me at Maggie Valley about the size of my helmet Dave? I thought it was you but I could be wrong. There was some pie consumption going on ....................
 
I agree with most, I think that head checks are, and should be ingrained in anyone riding a motorcycle. This technology is great but wouldn't change the way I drive at all. I do like my Sena SMH20 though and that was a huge leap for me conceptually.
Now I would really be interested in a high tech "noise cancelling" helmet that would self train to eliminate your particular bikes frequencies and harmonics but not the surrounding vehicles and sounds. That to me would be the cats pajamas!
