Coolant overflow today.

Radiator cap design is somewhat suspect. I had the same problem. Ive had to replace mine on occassion. Install a new one and you should be good ($20). I believe theres a thread somewhere on this as well.

On my 06 the casting plug shifted when they poored the head so the bolts there but no slot going into the coolant Jacket. I always lean mine over to the right when filling and hold her upright to check the level. I never put coolant in the overflow and never get coolant pushed into the overflow even when thrashing the beast hard. Of course I turn my fan on earlier then the normal settings. Cooler engine develops more power.

Last time my hose blew off! ( idiot builder had forgotten to rebolt the retention bracket above & right of the water pump) a friend helped me flush the system ( we refilled on the roadside with swamp water!!) then we filled with coolant by leaning the bike right over to the right , well enough to ensure that the rad cap was definately the highest point & ran the engine 'til all the bubbles had gone ; continually adding coolant to fill up the rad.

Interested in the comment that you ( WARP) reset the fan temp lower?:smoking: how do you do this?
