How hard is it to change the tires on a rocket III.. Can I use one of those ebay tire changers that cost 200?? How hard is it to break the bead on these tires? I am already on my second set of tires at 10,000 miles and the rear is starting to show signs of wear. I like to change them before I haul the bike to sturgis.. Can you use the beads to balance the tires?? Any info would be great.

Hey SB, just finished changing front and rear from original Metz to Bridgestones. I have a 09 R3T. Its work but can be done by yourself, I bought a bead breaker on fleabay along with tire irons and rim protectors. Breaking the tires down was easy, remounting the new tire was frustrating but got er done on the floor with just the tire irons. Saved $100 but spent $100 on the equipment. I'd do it again so next time it's free.

I have a classic with the 240 rear, and since the wheel has no drop center I was unable to do it with my no mar professional tire change. The front is no problem.
Take the rear rim to a trust worthy shop with tire.
To get the rear tire off rim take a razor, and cut in the center of tire all the way around. Then use a 1"x 1" to hold a gap between rim, and tire as you use a cut off wheel to cut the bead. Then it is off.
Every where I have went a bare rim with tire in hand gets you quick service. But taking rim with tire left on results in leaving it there till they have time.
Understand you need to go to a shop that handles these profile tires. Jiffy stop is not a good choice.
