Change of main wiring harness

Hi there folks, I am new to the community. I have a dilemma I am currently re commissioning a dormant 2094 R3 classic, problems have become very apparent the main one is the main wiring harness it has been chopped/spliced so much so the decision by the owner was to change, simple no, the problem that faces me now is the R3 is an early 2004 model & the replacement harness is off a later 2008 model all good until when plugging the ignition switch harness into the main harness only to find the corresponding plugs are not compatible, one being oblong (2004) & one being oval shaped (2008) is there any adapters/wiring diagram differences, all suggestions most welcome

A 2004 is a standard not a classic
