Cat bypass tunes

OK . . I have decided to put the cat bypass on my Rock. I have been reading some of the threads and have come up with . . All you need is the 12 minute tune adjust but there may be some pop on decel with this. My dealer seems to think that the tune for the bypass and TOR pipes would be better since the 12 minute tune is intended more for changes in altitude, etc. He suggested loading that tune, sticking it on the dyno and playing with it from there, no charge, just for his own info. He's BIG into racing and has it all there to tune it in.

My questions are . . .Has anyone come up with a better tune or is the 12 minute the best so far? Opinions on doing this?
 
Having the opportunity to check a tune or two on a dyno for gratis would be in your favor. Be sure to capture and post the results. I would be most interested in knowing. The 12 minute tune costs you no more than 20 minutes of time and the fuel to get there. I installed the bypass with OEM Tourer muffs and ran the 12 minute tune without the advantage of a dyno. I It was a major improvement according to my: seat-0-pants meter. f your dealer mechanic has a better idea then go for it.
 
I put the triumph cat bypass on mine with the stock pipes and did the 12 minute tune and the bike runs great. Really fast on acceleration, no spittin' no spudderin' just raw power. Idles about 750-800. I don't know how it could run any better. It does have some decel poppin', but I kinda like the noise. I haven't had it on a dyno, but I don't think I need to.

Unless you have tuneboy or a PCIII a dyno won't do much good because he isn't going to be able to tune it with the Triumph tool. Also a dyno won't show the difference in these tables anyway because he'll run it in 3rd gear only on the dyno. Fourth and 5th is where the big difference is. I would stick with the basic stock tune and do the 12 min tune. If you look at the secondary tables for the aftermarket pipes tune Triumph puts out it closes them further.

Whole heartedly agree. I too was satisfied with the same set up for a little while. There are improvements via a TuneBoy that a PC III can't do for it: Open 2ndrys to 100%; correct Speedometer 7% error; and eliminate the decel popping. You can also increase the top speed limiter as well as rpm limiter. There are of course numerous Tunes to tinker with that will infact make a believer out of you. Surely put the yeehaw in my grin! Leaving the 2ndry where they are is best for fuel consumption. The speedo error might keep your tickets to a minimum and the decel popping doesn't really hurt.
 
Well, that was the other thing. Is it worth the bucks to buy a tuneboy key. He also has tuneboy availble there. My big thing is I'm really not so much into balls to the wall riding, I do a lot of longer distance riding. Like I head out to birmingham on a saturday for a beer. But . . . on many rides I pull a trailer . . . dive gear, wifey's make up bag . . you know. Sounds like buying a key may be in my best interest in the long run. I'm new to all of this downloading high performance . . . heh, I'm still getting used to not having a carb on the car. I'm trusting y'alls input.

Actually . . . after re-reading, and re-thinking, I think I'll just try the 12 minute tune and then go from there. Thanks I appreciate the input.

I don't blame you BD, if I were in your shoes I would do the same. Spend the money on a nice backrest for the wife.

Actually I went one better . . . sold the hot rod and bought her a new Speedmaster. It should be in Tuesday.

My thought here is: A key is married forever henceforth to your ECM. And you can change the tune as many times as you can finagle someone with a cable to work with you on separate services. Or drive over here and I load it for ya. You pick th.e tune
