Can I keep the Lonelek Cable plugged in?

I noticed that my plug does not have a cap and that it is covered in what appears to be dielectric grease. Would it be ok to keep my Lonelek cable plugged in? I noticed that some of the Bluetooth OBD2 drain the battery. I thought if I ran the cable under the tank I could run the TuneECU ap or the Torque ap without fear of killing the battery. I imagine it would charge my phone as well. Your .02 is appreciated. NORM

I think that could work, if you are going to be digging into the ECU on a regular basis. This is a good moment to recommend a battery tender though, and keep your bike tethered to it when you are not riding.

Does anyone run the torque ap via cable instead of bluetooth? It seems like it would work. I need to go plug my bike in when I get home. I usually ride every day but it's been down. :(

Hi BigNorm. I know absolutely nothing about "tuning", ( so far ), but I thought I read somewhere last week, that using Bluetooth denies you the ability to change "some" of the performance parameters. Is that true? Is a cable hookup the best way to use "tunes"? Thanks... Russell

Yes, you can leave the OBDII to USB cable plugged in - used to do this with my Daytona as my std config.
It will not charge anything however - you should not use it as a power source!

Have not tried Torque with cable - bluetooth just so convenient.
My Bluetooth adapter has an automated power-off switch on it so its not draining constantly.

I have not tried editing maps in Android - this should rarely be required anyway - most will just be downloading an already established map.
If you need that level of editing, do it on your PC, save the map and transfer it to your Android for loading.
But no-one should be editing maps 'on-the-fly' without real data to support the parameters within a table they are changing.
Stick to downloading established maps unless you REALLY know what you're doing.

Great advice, ( again ), on sticking with established maps. Thanks. I will need your warning.... Russell
