Well I finally got with it and brought a smart phone, these things are the future I am sure. While looking for speedo HUD apps I stumbled on an app called Torque ($5) which is a OBD2 scanner and real time sensor reader with a dyno feature. You buy a $27 bluetooth adapter that fits the diagnostic plug on the Rocket and away you go. You can check engine codes, clear engine check lights, and a lot more. I can't wait to try it with TuneBoys new features (to compare the different tunes performance), has anyone tried this app before? is it any good?

Interesting.

That said I'm not sure I'd entrust ECU mapping (as opposed to reading stat's) to a Bluetooth connection. For simple reading I think I'd fit a ScanguageII - powered off the OBD-II at $150 seems a whole lot safer. I'm looking at an eBox 3300MX for other stuff - attached via USB.

But as possibly the last person on earth without even a cellphone - maybe I'm just out of touch.

I got the blue tooth OBD11 plug and tried it today, looks good although it did say the ECU does not support OBD11 ( it does seem to work OK anyway ). To get the most out of it we would need the R3's PID's so if anybody knows about these please let me know. I found a couple of youtube videos on the Torque website forum http://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpforumaction=viewtopic&t=4.3 There is a chap called Lee who owns a ThunderBird that is using it, he has some friends that are working with Tune ECU who may have access to PID's for the T/Bird and R3. Here are the videos he posted -- these will show some of the features of the App.

Tune Boy in this format would be good, you can read and clear fault codes. You can test deferent tunes with the dyno feature and upload data to a web site. It also has a track feature to track your course.

Those F/t values may be fuel trim, the adapter I got is this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bluetooth-Auto-Scanner-Interface-OBD-II-2-OBD2-EOBD-CAN-/220710658618?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item336361623a I hooked up a cig lighter up to the accessory plug connection to power the android and will mount it with a shade cover. I use a HUD speedo app that answers the phone and scrolls SMS's as well as weather conditions, location, time, eco.
So I can have all these features in one unit including GPS and music.
