Battery Terminal Bolts

Hi All
I want to add the positive and negative wires from my satnav to the battery. It has optimizer cables on there already and when I try to put the satnav cables in place the terminal bolts are just not quite long enough. I'm going to get some slightly longer bolts. Does anyone know the exact thread size so I can purchase some slightly longer bolts that will screws into the terminals??

Very good chance it is an M8 bolt. As to the length, be sure you can truly tighten it down when you make it longer so it doesn't cause other issues with your electrical system.

Yeah cheers. I was going to get one too long and cut to the correct length.
 
Sorry @crj0007 but I don't remember the exact size. I went to Home Depot and picked up several different sized metric bolts then used what fit. When you cut the bolt, make sure you have a nut already bottomed on the bolt. It'll help give you a clean thread after cutting when you remove the nut.

Just about to ask the same question then found this thread - don’t suppose anyone remembers if it’s M6 or M8?
 
I know it's an old thread but you could fold a little cardboard and put it under the nut in the battery lug. Once the bolt threads you're sorted
