The R3 has a metal gas tank, right?

Has anyone stripped the paint off, sanded the metal to get a brushed look, followed by applying some lacquer to keep the metal from rusting?

What would be the cons, barring aesthetics, of doing this?
 
How can you ask about "cons" and then bar aesthetics??? They would surely be the major "con?" :shock:
 
what was it that use to come with a metal unpainted tank?

yep, here's one.

.I think somebody did chrome one time best I remember.
Don't remember who tho, been a few years ago.
