Molinoman
Living Legend
Well guys, I thought I would let you know that I arrived back at Kandahar safely last Saturday. Now I am awaiting my personal helo (courtesy of the US Army) to get me back to Lagman.
Had a bad rash of accidents here since I arrived. A former Russian built Hi8 helicopter went down soon after lifting off, 16 competitor (Fluor Daniels) contractors killed, 5 injured on Sunday, then yesterday (Monday) a harrier jet didn't make it while taking off, both pilots ejected safely but coupled with a rocket attack on Sunday night (didn't hit anything that I know of) it sure is getting exciting over here.
On the motorcycle note, if I had my Rocket over here, I think I would take my chances (50/50 with taking chances on pot shots on the highway 60 miles or so to Qalat as opposed to taking a chance on my life everyday on the road in the the US....).
Haven't got the calendar countdown going yet as I'm not sure when DynCorp will be taking over (KBR lost all contracts in Afghanistan...and I presume in Iraq also for the LOGCAP IV contract....thanks to the "democratic majority" payback to KBR that is going on) now we have to wait and watch while DynCorp and Fluor Daniels stumble on to what they have actually taken on (they have no idea) but I will probably be working for DynCorp (they got south Afghanistan, Fluor Daniels got the north) when the switch is complete. I just hope the pay is similar and they can figure out how to place loads of people on R&R when that comes up (like four days a week...presently), hotels in Dubai (for a few hours to clean up) and then get us to the airport, ....if not I may be coming home sooner than expected....
Remember get out and ride and get your YaYa's out.
Dennis
