G'day Captains;

Proposed dates, will have to commit to one of these weekends no later than January 2012. Vote for the weekend you prefer now I have set a closing date for the poll to enable planning to move forward. It's a must we establish a set a date first, in all fairness to all captains you have been given four options to weekends to chose from. Please take the time to vote for your choices / choices.

August 17 to 19

September 14 to 16

October 19 to 21

November 16 to 18

When we have a date that will be selected by the number of votes for that weekend I will post accommodation details for captains to contact at their leisure.

If we start to get a list of committed captains may be able to approach accommodation on a group booking basis to cut costs down. There is plenty of Caravan parks, camp grounds, hotels, motels, and Holiday rentals to choose from

Doing my darnedest to get some commitment of triumph but taking a bit of time. Local dealer more than happy to be on board and more than happy to assist with some organisation and events.

As a form of promotion we can have a triumph bike show, nominal entry fee for prizes and trophies.

Bikes display with nominal entry and all money raised going to charity this gets all the locals to come down.

Catering we let self funded charity croups to sell sausages, BBQ, cold drinks etc, and they keep their own money raised for their organisation.

Would not like to see professional foodies as my belief is they get to expensive and look after them selves only.

Another idea I have but would need a guaranteed commitment from captains. That is we take terminally ill children, as nominated by the make a wish foundation for a ride along the Charlton Esplanade of Hervey Bay and do a big loop through the centre of town. Think of the promotion and support this would give us for the ongoing success to become an annual event.

Looking forward to your replies thanks Marty;)

Giving rides would involve insurance and such we would need to be very carefully about things like this even though I would be keen the Guadian's would have to sign iron clad waivers

Great work Marty. I really like the idea of taking the kids for a ride, but also agree with Hanso (and I'm sure you're well aware of that and have looked into it). Apart from being a great thing to do, it could also make it easier to get time off work/leave pass etc etc. I voted for the October date but would be just as OK with any of them. Biggest issue for me will not be the w'end but the extra days I'll need to get all the way up there and back.

Good choice of dates there Marty. I know which is my immediate choice (September) but I'll have to give it some serious long term thought.

I'm making a milestone on the 20th of August by turning 50 and as the youngest of six kids I am bound to follow tradition and have a party involving all the family and relo's, which makes the first one unlikely. (It's also the same weekend as the Port Maquarie Triumph Blue Ribbon charity event for Prostate Cancer)
But having said that, I am also concidering pushing it back by a month so we are into some slightly better weather down here.

Pretty selfish of mum and dad for having sex in mid November 1961 and causing me to be born at the crapyest time of the year I reckon, but that's another story.

Personally, October and especially November are getting too hot for my likings, but that's just me.

I didn't go for Oct cos MottoGP and also have found in Past the best weather up that way is Nov but will go with the flow:cool:

I've voted for Sept. but am happy with any date suggested.

As for insurance.....I'm a member of our local Ulysses branch and each year in November we have a fun day for the local Endeavour clients which includes about a 20klm ride.

Your full comp bike insurance also has public liability so should not be a problem.

We do need to have a waiver from the parents and/or carers though and we have a safety demo beforehand which includes how to mount and dismount, where to put your feet, helmet fitting, what to hang on to and a signal if the pillion wants to stop ( a slap in the back of the head usually works!!)

Anyway there's heaps of time to sort that out.

Looking forward to it.

G'day Captains

It seems there is a lot of great rides out there for exceptional reason and just bloody good fun.

I started a group called Australian Rocket Riders and if all the Aussies would like to send me the dates of your annual rides with a organiser contact I would be happy to post it there for all to see.

Or we could start a forum on Annual Australian Rides with a organiser contact. The Mrs and I would attend as many Qld as we possibly could with the only restriction the Mrs works every second weekend. Interstate rides I would do my best to get to at least 2 of these a year.

So Captains if you know of a legitimate ride let us all know, the more that know the more that go. Thanks Marty.:D
