Another one dragged home.......

I have found I am just not complete unless there is a orphan in the garage that needs a pile of attention to be brought back to life.

I know how you feel. I missed this thread when it was first posted .............. congratulations on a stunning and challenging restoration. I have been working on an orphan in my garage also, although somewhat younger than yours. I must admit that my 81 Suzuki 650 Katana was in way much better shape when I started than your CB450 was when you started.

Love that katana Gary , I owned the 650 , 1100 and the 750 se with the pop up headlight . Haven't seen one for years now !
Britman done a sterling job on that honda .
I can't believe the condition of it after so long in storage . A similar back garden find in England would be a terrible mess !

I admire your vision and work, and what a great bike. I've been wishing for years that Honda sell a modern 450 . . . I bet the insurance rates would be reasonable -- it would be easy to handle for the average rider, particularly in parking lots and inclines, great on gas. Just whistling in the wind. Honda learned their sad lesson with the PC-800 - one of the best commuter bikes of all time, and in two production runs could hardly give them away.

Whats this insurance thing you speak of, is this something I need

Great job! What's your secret to rust removal? It looks really good.

Coat with Marvel's Mystery Oil, fine steel wool, Mother's Metal Polish along with heavy duty rubbing compound, time, patience, and beer. Severely pitted areas can made to look a lot better with touch up with chrome or aluminum paint. The shine is much better looking from a ten foot distance, but I really like the fact that the bike is nearly all original.......
