Another Exhaust Idea

Made from two old stock pipes cut just after the bend, then welded on two s/steel tailpipes that are sold for cars, made by Ripspeed, used the cat box to quieten it, but you could use the bypass for some noise, . Sounds good with no backfiring.

Looks good..are there any issues of hot exhaust on the passengers feet??

I like what you've done but no matter what exhaust I look at, keeping the stock headers just seems pointless.

I'd have to see the engineering behind them and how they flow but they just look like the worst possible header design a manufacturer could come up with. Maybe there was a method to their madness that I can't see. All I see are twins with less total engine capacity than one of the three Rocket cylinders with headers twice the size and of more equal length.

I think your shorty design is nice, but I think you need a new header design to compliment what you've done in terms of looks and performance.

I suppose I am a bit "form over function" here, the R3 is a fast enough bike in stock form on public roads, I think what I am doing is making it a bit individual for me, whatever I do to it, triple K&Ns, TRE, TORs, cat bypass, it still goes bloody fast as it did when I got it, we never really know if we have gained a few more horses without a dyno run.
Dont think the heat on the footpegs is a problem the exit is a bit behind them.

I like the look with the shorter pipes. I had a Fat Boy with Vance and Hines shorty's on it and loved the look and the sound. Looks good to me.

Steve - Iv got an old (and i mean OLD) set of pipes, 50,000 miles, rusty and pretty beatup after last weekend....But if you only want to cut them up they will be OK.

I have now fitted the third pipe and the job is finished, thanks to Pete, Rocket uk, for the donation of his old bent silencers to complete the job.
