**** Paul, your'e pretty knowledgable also :)

Ok Fred I had some time to check my two printed manuals I will start withthe one I bought in 07 for my 06 classic. Keep in mind Triumph makes chages or updates to parts over the years. This does not mean the old stuf is bad. Like everyone thinks in the update kit. As my 05 has not needed it but the 06 did. I also know they changed head gaskets to. both of mine most likely have the two different ones. If I ever take Gracie apart I will order a newer style one as they both fit both motors. the thing is most people order by engine serial number and not what they really want if they know things are different. The parts guy uses the information supplied by the purchaser to order the correct parts. Can't blame them. Its the way it is like ordering clutch components.

first out of my manual. for the 06 ordered in 07

now the one that came with Gracie which is a 05 standard.

Note the difference. The one Marcus has to down load is like the one I ordered in 07
the next picture is the same in both manual and Marcus's down load.

not the timing marks on the primary gear.

Here is a picture of a 07 block you will see two hask marks 12 Oclock and 6 Oclock. This is what you line the crankshaft primary gear dots up with to ensure TDC of number one pistion.

Note the crank is not in the engine as we had a captian that needed new crank, head, cams, and liners. So I let him have my extra stock.
Hope this helps and prove you did not screw up its most likely a miss print.
