If Carpenter comes out with cams that come on in the low RPMs, I may consider having "Lilith" (the roadster) done. But, at the moment, I am happy with the decision on adding the TTS super charger to the Nev augmented R3 Standard (I named her "Jinn" look it up on Wikipedia). I am all for torque and low-end. "Jinn" was together and ready for a tune to match the Nev cams and Carpenter Brute so I could take her to RAA Texas. As I was communicating with Nev on the tune, he apologized and said I really need to dial in the cams. Now Muggzy, at Alien Cycle, is in the process of slotting and positioning the cams. Hopefully she will be ready for Lone Star Rally. Nev says with the correct cam settings (his cams), it will have "crazy" low end acceleration. Torque....nothing like it.


PS If you decide to do a supercharger, go ahead and bite the bullet and buy new. It has cost me more to repair/replace parts on the junk sc that was sold to me than a new one.

They are around $6500.00. You could definitely find a nice R3 for that price. I think he, like many HD riders think Rockets are expensive like a Ducati or something. He really likes my R3, I'm surprised he hasn't looked into one, he was always a British rider when we were young. He doesn't do computers so he is in the dark about a lot of things.

I would get the Carpenter kit, just to be safe. I finally ran her out to near redline this weekend to see what she had, pretty freaky feeling the front end getting light on an 870 lb bike at over 100 mph. I think Bob has other cam options besides the 240 hp package, ask him, he's almost always available if you call there,

The irony is that almost as soon as we got that sort of performance, many of us would loose our licences. Hard enough keeping things sane as it is.

My brother in law is the service manager at the local HD dealership. He just bought the 120r motor and had it installed in his RG. He says the numbers are 142 hp and 150 tq. His compression is 11. Now he is going to tear it down and boost compression to 12. He's got $15000 into at this point. For him it's all about the extremes. I think he's nuts, but it's his money. I told him I got those numbers in stock form.

Sounds to me like your friend wants bragging rights. I say get the kit and remain on top of the food chain.

Just get the 140ci tank embellisher and don't race him. Yours will always be bigger and it would be fun to leave him guessing.

If he really wants a HD that handles well in corners, then he'd be better off with a something in the Dyna line. I've always heard the FXR has always been the frame for people that want to race their HD.

Steel's nailed it .. make sure there are a few twists and turns in the 'dragstrip' .. unless he's got a well set-up Dyna/FXR .. you'll be the one with the grin on their face mate

I had a Dynaglide, I was not at all impressed, my 78 CB750 would kick it's ass in twisties, scraped before I even started leaning.

If Ihad about $8K laying around to put into a bike my Rocket would have already been to Carpenter Racing and back. I dream of such a time, but it will never happen. In my dream we come up with a custom chrome heat sheild for the headpipe of their exhaust system. It can be done and that's why I said $8K vs $6,400.00(you never know what other goodies might come up in the plan).
