After Winter..........

My Rocket is currently in storage in MN. Petrol has been drained and battery removed and should be remaining in this condition for the next 6 months

It was my belief that all I need to do next June is change the oil and filter, fill the tank with gas, put in a fully charged battery and off I go............

It has been said to me that things may not be so simple and I may in fact need some sort of 'code' to either get past the alarm or enable the engine management unit. Is there any truth to this?

If so I could be in trouble as I do not have any codes for this bike
 

Draining the fuel tank was a bad idea. You need to fill the tank with "stabilized" gas, run the bike until the stabilizer is being burned, then top off the tank to remove all air pockets.

A drained tank is a rust experiment in the making, especially if the storage location goes through warming and cooling cycles (non-heated) as this will allow condensation to form inside your steel tank.

Yep. An empty tank is a time bomb, excuse me, a rust bomb. I keep my bikes in the machine shop and it's always heated. I start 'em up every month and warm their innards. Even covered up, they get a little oily from the coolant mist but it all washes off.

it has been on every bike I've owned. The only coated ones are the ones that were neglected and had to be sealed due to rust issues.

I'm not aware of any metal tanks with a coating. Maybe someone can chime in if they know better
 
I know the filler neck is coated on the inside, didn't know about the inside of the tank. I just got my tank replaced under warranty and I noticed that the coating appears different than on my previous tank.
