Santa brought me a new GPS this year, I found a mount for it and I have a good idea on where to mount a power plug socket . . BUT I would like to hear from some of you that already have mounted one (plug socket), where to mount it and what kind or brand works best . . not nasty looking and would like it to be semi waterproof . . . Suggestions?
Me Too! I'm thinking the spot where my ignition switch was before I moved it would be good. Just started looking for a weatherproof 12V socket that would fit there.
Powerlet products has some nice (pricey) weather proof outlets that will mount on bars or any flat panel. They also sell combined mounts and outlets with short cords for GPS and iPods.
I got a socket from Eastern Beaver and mounted it where the ignition switch used to be. I used the end of a food can (green beans, I believe) and punched a hole in it to make a brace for the ignition switch cover.
I got a black marine grade one at bass pro for about $5. The stainless steel and chrome were more. I figure if it'll work on a boat, it'll work on a motorcycle. I haven't got around to installing it yet.

Dave I bought a couple of weatherproof sockets at Autozone around $10 each I installed one where triumph gives you the option at the right hand side of the oil tank and I installed the other one on the radiator cover.
