ABS light always on

I cleaned the paint off and went for a decent ride today and still no joy.
Another thing I recall doing is replacing the brake pads all around

The ABS works via a magnetic sensor reading the tone wheel , can only imagine that the paint messes with the magnetism the same as the dust that sonny described ?
I want mine black also , so thinking maybe along the lines of a home chemical blacking kit !
Steel or Ali? - if Ali the eddy currents are FAR smaller. Pretty much anything could screw with it. If it were me I'd get a spare in before going to blacking - I do small gun parts all the time and the finish is hard to get right on Ali.

Would anodizing them work?

My light was on steady for a bit last year and the dealer had no idea why, it wasn't till I got new rear tires installed that I discovered the problem. There is a narrow gauge wire running along the right swingarm connected the sensor to the controller, and it is spaced out by these tiny rubberized clips. There is a small object (can't exactly remember, and i cant check because she is written off.) that will rub through the installation and cause your abs to ground out. It's quite difficult to see.

I couldn't say definitively , as by no means am I an authority on electromagnetic pulse and sine waves , but I'm pretty sure the abs rings are plated steel so guessing the black ones are anodized , where as my silver ones seem to be a now wearing thin cadmium plating !

I bought a Tiger ABS ring (exactly the same) but it is black - looks to be painted.
