Thanks Macrider. Your link went to a 245/45/17 General Altimax, but I got the message and looked at the 205/60/16 Altimax. The tire has a narrow tread width of 5.1" and section width of 8.2" which should give it plenty of room and easier to install. I had a General G-Max 195/55/16 on a 2004 Goldwing and it was not stiff enough to keep from bouncing even with 50 psi. Do you have the 205/60 or a 205/55 ? It is hard to know which tire will give you the right amount of stiffness; not too bouncy and not too harsh. I weigh 250 and my wife is (don't tell anybody) about 200. We are quite a load, especially when packing heavy for a long trip.
I have the 205/60/16 , you will need to install the tire on the bike with the tire deflated, once it is in you could probably put about 34psi to 36psi to get it right for your weight. You will need to experiment a bit with the pressure till it feels good. I have never really noticed any bounciness, but I do notice a bit more of a softer suspension , which I like. Heres a good DS forum with lots of info http://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com

OK, @Macrider.
I finally get it.
You meant install the "WHEEL" on the bike with the car tire deflated after it was mounted!
Please pardon my denseness!
I've never really understood "The dark side" title?(What does it mean?) so haven't bothered looking in,I had a look through this a.m. and am now aware that it's about car tyres,on the rear. I've never even considered that before----so-----
I will be needing a new rear, come the spring, shall I take the plunge and join you others ?.
Being a Dark-side virgin....( yeah--even at my age)--- What tyre should I go for?---I'me not an aggressive rider, but can still be naughty..
