2020 Rocket engine guard heat.

I’m riding it to often to send it out on loan but thanks. I would expect the carbon fiber to translate and retain less heat. I think the more rear foot position to be significant also.

Don't feel the need either to do this change (at least as of today) with my R.
Wonder whether this change may affect the guarantee if any problem (?) Anyone asked for the Triumph dealer opinion ?

The right side of the engine gets pretty warm during summer riding season, so to cure 90% of the heat I did the following.
Removed the stainless steel heat shields from all 3 headers and lined the insides with exhaust header wrap using silicone gasket sealer as an adhesive.
I cut the heat shield fabric to 1/8 in. smaller than the exact inside dimensions of the shields so u couldnt see the material ..

It works sooooo well, you can actually touch the shields when the engine is very hot, and its just warm to the touch. Triumph engineering, are u listening!!

I used Permatex 81878 Ultra Copper Max Temp RTV Silicone . Put some on the back of the heat shield, and some on the heat fabric. Put the two together and wait
6-8 hours to cure.. I waited overnight just to be sure. Unbelievable difference in the heat transfer. Keeping the 3 headers from losing heat transfer is also beneficial to the
cat as it will burn off oxides of nitrogen much better and cleaner with hotter exhaust gases.
This idea you had about the heat from the header on the Rocket. You say use a rap with heat silicone on the insde of the exhaust heat sheilds. Well all i can say it dont work still gets hot dont make any difference. I used a good high grade titainium rap with the 81878 silicone waste of time and money so i dont know how you say it works ive removed mine as its better without......
 
Wow I have not felt any heat on the TFC. I wonder if the carbon fiber shields are more than just pretty parts? Nice work guys.
Carbon fiber doesnt transfer heat easily like aluminum or stainless does. Has to be some advantage for all that extra cash for the TFC. Like the look of the Carbon Fiber too.

Sorry mate this does not work at all i did the same as you used the same stuff and it made no difference...
 
Has anyone else tried this? I need at least one more opinion to break the tie. I was about to do it myself but would rather not fuss with it if it doesn't help.

I have done it, but with a different exhaust sealing compound. I have found over time that it works to a degree and slows down the heating/speeds up the cooling but once they get hot, they are hot, not much difference.... they do however cool much faster IMHO... which would make sense.
a quick run to the shops 4 miles away and I can touch them at the other end... but 10 miles they are too hot.
Is it worth the time and effort.... long term opinion is a big fat NO.

Because of a problem on one of my legs, I have always had problems with heat issues on my bikes and tried to find ways to avoid it. My question is, would it help, after treating the inside coating, mounting the plates on an extra spacer of 1-2 mm thickness, to let some air transfer?

probably, if you can keep the speed up to get the wind cooling effect, but the rad shields them from the wind a bit
