2005 ignition switch removal

Well, the two fasteners that hold the switch to the bracket look like some kind of rivet. There are four normal torx screws that hold the bracket to the bottom of the top triple tree. I just took those out and replaced the bracket and all.
That's because they are security break off bolts.
Lesson two a prick punch is sharper usually used to locate a position. Then a center punch is used to have a more permanent mark. (Once you are sure the price punch location is correct)
Anyway Fred think how do I remove a broken bolt. I just need to unscrew it if the threads aren't damaged.

I know this is a old post, I have a bit of an issue, the dickhead that owned this bike before me had knocked it over with the steering lock engaged and it snapped the cast ignition housing and bent the mounts for the ignition... I'd like to find a new ignition my question is most ignitions just come with the switch and 3 keys if they are new, will any rocket 3 key open the gas and seat release or will I need to use 2 different keys if I go with just replacing the ignition only ...? Or is it possible to just gut my cylinder from the old cast and swap it with the new one?

I appreciate the response, have you done this before or know the procedure by chance? I am just curious if there is any special tool I might need to get before I tear into it, I ordered a new mount for the cast ignition housing I might have been able to bend it back but it's such a tight fit in there I just figure for 24 bucks I can just swap it and not have to mess with it much.

It has been years since I overhauled my switch, so I am not sure how I accomplished the task.
But I remember that I tore into my bad switch first, that way I wouldn't destroy the new one.
I attached the new wiring to the old switch.
It wasn't that difficult to figure out. The reason for changing it was, the switch had shorted out.
I put a relay in for the starter to keep the voltage off of the switch itself and moved the switch to the left side of the bike.
It was a simple job, just take your time and don't overthink it.
You will do fine.

You guys might be over thinking it, if I can do it, I am sure you guys that are more talented than me could pull it off in your sleep.
Just study the switch a little and proceed. Just start with the bad switch first! The tumbler is not that hard to change out.
It's been years since I have done mine and I have slept since then.
Or you can take both switches to a locksmith and have him change the tumblers out, it's only money.
