HI All,

Need some advice/info...I just sold my 2004 Rocket with 38,000 on it frankly cause I was tired of the breakdowns etc...All have been warned about buying a bike right when it comes out...My issues were the Throttle Position sensors, fuses blowing, ignition switch going out, etc...

Now of course, I miss my Rocket!!!

Anybody have a thought/opinion on the 2011 Roadster? Being that there were no cosmetic changes (other that paint) to the bike I am assuming Triumph spent their $$$ making the Rocket more reliable...

Thanks in advance for any insight...The site is great and all you were helpful in the past...

Best,

Bummed & Miss My Rocket!

There were several changes with the Roadster, including cosmetic changes, from more blacked out bits, to different riding position, claimed power and torgue increase, humungous twin pipes, ABS, fiddles with the drive train, softer rear shocks and no doubt other things. Since probably '08 most of the reliability issues seem to have been fixed and I'm not aware of major gripes about the Roadster. Having had a Rocket how can you possibly live without one???

yea I think all the internal changes happened in about '08 or '09.
Probably still need to get a real horn and an eastern beaver kit even if ya got the Roadster.
But of course I'm not sure, because I don't have one of those.
New set of pipes would probably help too.....sure wouldn't hurt..

I picked mine up last week. I am liking it more since I have put a couple of thousand on it. Still don't like the handle bars but they are being replaced this week alon with some other ergonomic improvements.

At the present, I still like my 06 STD better as it has a bit more hp due to modifications.

Yeah Canberra is about right
I think all bikes built from Nov 07 had the upgraded parts..ignition switch issues
still remain from what i understand
Of course i stand to be corrected :)

there were a number of faults with the early models and even some with the later models ('07 and '08) engine bearing etc etc. BUT......

its like a woman........ how could you live without one.;)

seriously though the roadster has most if not all of the upgrades already done including the ignition fault (which i had on my '09 classic along with the tps etc etc) so i have been told by people in the know.
i am glad i switched to the roadster and would only get rid for .......... a newer one. :)

The roadster is a much better bike in my experience so go for it. My 2007 original rocket was such a Friday afternoon bike it got a little silly and I nearly gave in but the roadster, although not without the odd niggle, is a vastly better running bike. Triumph still can't smooth out the pick-up just off idle and it hunts and misses just a touch more than seems normal sometimes but that's only occasionally.

Don't be put off, I think you'll get your Rocket experience back, plus a bit, without the let downs of your previous model.

Thank you

Once again you guys have been great...All your responses are really helpful...Looks like I'm buying another Rocket!

Best...
