1 Quarter Mile At a Time

I'm surprised to hear that, Art, I'm against car tires in general, but I'd think the wide flat contact patch would be an asset, unless the bike tire has that much gripper rubber.

WELL the much lighter original equipment METZLER has all the grip you can use and a lot less rolling resistance and the bike handles much better and you will run FASTER AND QUICKER speeds and times so why would we or anyone run the car tire ?

The stock Metzler washed out on me on several occasions when under power in turns. Never happened with my car tire yet. The stock tire didn't inspire confidence to say the least.

I agree, BUT he be talkin' straight line performance - no curves . . . at none intended.  :p

HEY JUICE you must be one hell of a rider I never had a washout with a METZ but I did with my frickein car tire and Ive seen others also ask TRIUMPH PHIL about his wild ride thru the twisties on his car tire and he was riding on the sidewalls LOL

I've also had the metzler spin mid corner as well as the Bridgestone and recently (today) the Avon spun through all of first gear on a hard launch (first time full throttle in first since Carp work).

Any tire on any R3 can be made to slip or spin. No exceptions, it's all in how you deliver the power.

Car tires CAN limit the wheel spin through a couple of mechanics.
1) They're almost always run at lower pressure so they'll deform more providing a potentially larger patch and give more grip.
2) They're heavier which means they rob power.
3) They don't allow equal speed at equal lean. You can't lean a car tire ridden bike to the same angle at the same speed, the reduced angle means more grip, it's at lower speed, but your rewarded with more grip.

The fastest way through a turn given a fast rider will always be a bike tire, but for most people a car tire will suffice.

If anyone wants to put their money where their mouth is I'll gladly set a pace for your car tire to match (you won't).

Ya. All five passes of it till is worn out and needs to be replaced
YOUR showing you never raced with a METZ thats all we use at the DRAG STRIP and we get good mileage so I dont know what your complaining about if you never tried one at the track
