09 r3?

get the black one, some say its the slower color its just that it does not attract as many speeding tickets. i picked my 07 up first of October for 13500 vs 15k retail, then you get taxed and fees. got them to give me the tall backrest with rack though. but after you ride one you usually end up thinking to your self "this is cheap". id sell my wife to the gypsies for mine, if i had a wife.

Same motor though, can't you just unleash the HP with a TuneBoy?

Nope, Tuneboy hasn't cracked it yet. The throttle bodies are different also.

I would hope any tranny issues are sorted, Triumph has offered upgraded parts for those that have had problems.

I think the difference between the two rocket engines...RIIIT vs RIII is more than just tune. I believe the cams are different as well as the aforementioned throttle body. Sort of like how a chevy small block 350 in a truck will never perform like the 350 in a corvette. simlar but different enough and purpose built to the point that you would need to do some significant rework to get the RIIIT up to snuff... but hey, its a tourer that can do a power wheelie!!!! What more do you really need?

Yes, I'm holding out for the black one. my local dealer doesnt have one, but there is on about 100 miles from here...good breakin' in ride, lol. I just want to get the best deal possible, and make sure I won't regret not waiiting for the 09.
Sounds like I should wait until Triumph has their company meeting and see what they announce.
It that at the end of July, or are we talking August?

I had my dealer look up the cam part numbers and they are the same as the standard Rocket however the throttle bodies were different. I couldn't tell you what the difference is otherwise. I would have a hard time believing that Triumph would detune them with only a tune. The stock tires are speed rated for 120mph? I think. They wouldn't make it that easy to circumvent.

R3tobe, you're not too far from Triumph of Chattanooga, they are known for having the best deals in the US for new Rockets.

My dealer told me the dealer meeting was in July.

Someone known to me who has just gone through the full VIP factory tour says: No significant changes contemplated for the Rocket in '09. Jamie

I have emailed them, but havent heard back yet. And their website stinks, lol.

Nope, Tuneboy hasn't cracked it yet. The throttle bodies are different also.

I exchanged emails with Wayne a week or so back and he was working on the tune for the R3T. He expected to have it available soon. From what he told me earlier he had agreed not to remove the top speed limiter.

From what I've heard so far, the throttle body (and of course the exhaust) is the only thing different. So, just wondering aloud, what would prevent someone from buying at TB for a Standard/Classic and slapping it on the R3T. If you're really obsessed with recovering all the lost power, that and a set of soon to be released Jardines should get you pretty close. Assuming of course that Wayne gets the tunes sorted.

Personally all I want from the Tuneboy (already bought one) is the ability to regain maybe 50% of the lost power. And, to get close to full power in the lower gears. I've had the R3T up to the speed limiter and have no need to raise the limit.
