Holy Moly, Mr. Penner.

From memory here is what I did to the Sport and Road ETV tables for better throttle response and full open butterflies. I made sport slightly more aggressive than Road. In Sport the butterflies open sooner and go to 100% in 2 columns. In Road it is little more docile with delayed opening and only open butterflies 95% in the last column. Added 10% fuel trim. Added just a little timing advance in a few cells in the higher rpm range. Removed the speed limiter. Changed the AFR so it would be a little richer. These changes made a significant difference and I have to be careful not to spin the rear wheel in 2nd gear.
I think you just need to put a Viking pipe on the bike and I have a tune that will make it run really good. Time you really uncorked that bike. :D

I noticed early on that Triumph seemed to be getting dealers to load "worse" tunes in the ECU over time, probably to do additional nerfing of the performance low down, which I think is where drivetrain damage is more likely. When I first got the bike it was silky smooth, but I found that almost every time the dealer did a service and then told me they had flashed the ECU it got lumpier and more cantankerous down low. Loading the Penner tune (or re-loading it) would fix it every time.

I hate to hear that. Hope it's not true at my dealer. I'm going to have to tell the mechanic to leave it alone if so.

I just spoke to my mechanic at my dealer today. He basically confirmed it. During scheduled services he follows a checklist and the checklist will include an item like "update ECU". So he does it. He doesn't even know what changes are made, he just connects it and let's the update happen. He also said he didn't know positively that tune map changes do happen during these updates, or if they don't, but wouldn't rule it out. I for sure will tell him not to do any ECU updates any time I take my bike in.

Sure will save you from having to undo what he did AND save the 20 minutes on the labor charge.
