If you're looking at taller windshields, another option is to change the angle of the stock windshield. It's pretty quick, easy, and cheap (these words are generally not applicable to motorcycles). I trimmed some composite framing shims to match the bracket profile and bolt holes and inserted them between the plexi and the bracket. This maintains the strength of the factory assembly and attachment method. The shims are very close to the correct width and length to begin with and a drill press makes quick work of them. The shims taper from 1/2" at the top to zero at the bottom and I found that each shim will raise the height of the airstream by 1" (the last photo shows the windshield angle with one shim). I ended up adding four shims because my wife and I are both tall. They're a grey-green color and actually blend in pretty well but 2" is a lot so I'll probably fabricate a pair of shims out of polished aluminum. It was really nice to try different angles quickly and without expense. I haven't noticed any performance or buffeting issues. The only real expense is the bolts as they are stainless; I couldn't find any bolts that match the factory head size but no one can really tell. I'll probably change all of them to standard thread stainless when I install the aluminum shims.
