...an increase in valve/shim bucket/cam lobe noise after coming off a hot; long highway run....? The valves are EXTREMELY clackety... although they quiet down after the engine cools down a little.
Got roughly 2500 miles on the oil.
Just can't remember if all that noise was present last winter when I was running the Clearview shield.... it is a large polycarbonate surface that definitely reflects all of the engine noise back at ya.... especially in the way that the Triumph fixing brackets allow it to mount at that angle towards you.... I never got that much noise reflection with the sport shield.
Got to admit that I was a bit hard on her this afternoon; I was sprinting down the highway between 80-100mph (and goosing it frequently above 100mph) for some pretty long friggen stretches (miles) since the traffic was strangely accommodating for that this afternoon. She did suck more gas than usual; attributed to both; that big azzed sail of a Clearview windshield and the speed.
Bob told me I'd probably never need another valve adjustment; after he stuck in the titanium shims; and performed his magic that came with the Carpenter 240pak. I'm wondering if I do need a valve clearance check though.....? :???:
..nope, no more than 'normal'...what weight oil ya running?..maybe a heavier weight oil is needed..how long of a warranty does Bob put on those thrashing machines?..

Running Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 at the moment... not sure of a warranty with Bob Carpenter's upgrade; from sensing and seeing how he operates... I think he would take care of it.
At any rate, if I'm going to have a valve check/adjustment done... it goes back to Bob and Eddie. There's NO WAY that I'll let a Triumph shop touch my Rocket; especially after the work I've had done on the motor.
