Would you know what to do...?

As manager in my line of work DOJ. I have to stand duty as the duty officer. The duty officer runs the prison while the executives are off and not in the prison. I have had to perform this senario to many times on thugs that most people would think let them go. When this happens you realize everyone is a human being even a thug. I have pumped thugs for 40 minutes straight withthe exception of while using the AED. I have not had a instance where it has worked. (I think God has stepped in and made his final judgement) I am known as the duty officer of death or doom as bad things happen when I am on shift. Never the less I go at it with the idea of suceding even though it does not happen. One thing for sure is I know if I were in the public and the need for this would happen, I am confident in my ability to do this having so much practice. I can only say everyone should familiarize themselfs with these rescue attempts as you never know when it will be a family member in need. Think of it this way there is no better feeling nor reward then saving a man's/woman's or child's life!

As a "senior" safety guy at my DC,
I'm gonna make sure this is covered in safety meetings and startups from now on.
every dept. is gonna have one of these AED's,
cause if they do now, it's never been mentioned.
Lets see how long it takes the worlds largest employer to get on board.
Thanks for posting this TRIIICK, you could have saved some lives.
God bless ya for it.

As an Aged Care Nurse we have to renew our First Aid Cert every 3 years and the last refresher middle of last year they started training us to find and use the AED devise Which are now a compulsary requirement in All major Shopping Malls here in Australia.
While these devises are going to save lives It is Still Highly Important That Everyone learns the basic CPR because that EAD devise won't help someone that has been left while you go and find the devise it in most important that
A) You ring your local Emergeny Number (911 usa)(000 australia) for your country or the international one on your mobile/cell phone 112 to geton its way
B) Start CPR after placing the hearty attack etc victim on thier back
C) Then get someone to go and find the AED devise whitch should have it location clearly marked be marked clearly
We used a training machine (dosent actually deliver a shock) and I can tell you it is not intimidating and very simple to use a child could do it

I asked our assistant general manager about it
after the general meeting the day after the initial post.
He told me NO we don't have them in the facility
and probably won't be getting them as the lawyers are scared of a lawsuit...
We had to have one guy taken out by ambulance about a month ago
and usually 10-14 drop every summer from heat.
Now I realize this is only for heart attack victims, and wouldn't work for heat,
but apparently the lawyers are scared somebody will use it who's "unqualified"
and get them sued. STUPID friggin lawyers....A CHILD couldn't misuse it.....
I asked for the name of the person in Corporate I need to talk to to get this changed,
so for now, I'll just concentrate on making sure they can do CPR......
Good post anyway,
THANKS,
