I was checking out the accessories on the Triumph website and there's a new item on there under screens. It's called a "Roadster Blade". Apparently, I thought, it's just the shield without hardware. And, according to the description, is compatible with the stock hardware. I called the dealer to inquire. They weren't aware of it (again, new part from what I can tell) and said they'd check it out and call me back. They called yesterday, but I was away from my desk. The guy left a message, however, saying something about having to purchase additional hardware because the blade is NOT compatable and the cost would be over $600.

I haven't had a chance to call them back because the call is long distance (can't call from work) and I don't get home before they close. But, this doesn't sound right to me. If memory serves me correctly, the "Roadster" (aka taller) windshield sells for $499 and it's ready to install on the bike. I got the impression this "Roadster Blade" was for folks that don't care to have two windshields so they could just install the blade with the stock shield hardware at about half the cost (Blade is $209).

Have any of you gone this route yet? Is it really $600? Again, I'm planning on getting back with the dealer as soon as I can and will post what I find out, but curiosity is getting the best of me so I thought I would ask here.

Since the description says its compatible I'd guess the parts guy was wrong. You could take the part number and email MADSS. I've bought from them and they've always been very responsive to questions.

The picture on the Triumph website is exactly the same as the picture for the Roadster Screen. That's a lot of help.....

Actually, I found an email address for the dealer right after I posted. I'll wait to see what they have to say about it. I just thought someone here may have already purchased the thing and could confirm or deny. :D

IL be interested to see what you find out, Im considering one of those, but not for $600! I think the reason behind the blade is the considerable gap between the headlight and the upper forks, it looks as if something is missing. I take my windshield off all of the time to clean and I dont like the look with that big gap of chrome. I believe the Triumph describes it as decorative only. Im thinking that maybe a leather fork bag tied to the front will fill the gap, have a lot more uses, and is considerably cheaper than what Triumph is offering. BTW if you look in the photo gallery of Triumphs site for the R3T there is a good picture of the bike with the blade shield

it looks like the blade for the roadster is for the touring model with a single headlight instead of the pair like the r3 standard and classic use. damm, i was hoping it'd fit the bikes with the twin headlights. i need a windshield that's about 3" taller. i'm 6'4" tall and the windstream hits me right in the face.

Site is a bit confusing???

The way I read it, is that it is a replacement polycarbonate screen. Which would have to be compatible with existing hardware??

I don't understand the "Roadster" name as I could only find the single headlight option on the site???

Still confused

I bought a taller shield for my 2009 R3T from Cee Bailey, and just swapped over my OEM hardware to it. Works like a charm. Cost $180 or so to my door.

Daryl, I went this route. I got the tall blade from Hermy's for $200 including tax, slipped the smaller shield off my bike, a few turns of a wrench later the taller blade was installed.

The dude at your dealer is a moron.
