Why do I always apply too much power

I had a back tyre punchure .. at 100kph on Saturday. Tyre had a hole you could poke your pinky finger threw. Flat in about three seconds .. Rockets don't handle too well at 100 kph with no air in the back tyre .. i found out !!

Well I'm glad you're OK but how's the bike? Did you keep it together? I had an instant flat at about 50km/h once and that was bad enough; my son was on the back (10yo at the time).

Did a similar thing 30 odd years ago on my 69 TR6 Trophy but it was all my fault. I lost a bolt out of the back guard so I scratched around and found a 6ml bolt about 50 ml long fixed no worries. Could hear a strange noise every time I hit a bump with a mate on the back ignored it untill it cut the Avon Roadrunner on the back in half at 100kph took some holding but we didn't crash.

Don't tell me - not another Avon incident was it?

I reckon two sets of undies would have been soiled that day!!!!

I take it that you & the bike are ok TomCat, now go on please me & tell me you were scrubbing the foot boards at the time & you mustered all the riding skills of the Gods to control the raging beast. Must be careful, all that brown crap on the tarmac is slippy stuff you know. anyway what caused it? do you know yet, & what tyre was it.

Just to satisfy the curiosity and stop finger pointing, it was probably a Metz. TC has said before that he's been happy with Metz. We know he's alive but I hope he's alright and the bike didn't get damaged again.

Yep Marathon with 30% wear that was unrepairable... didn't drop it or anything but it was a pretty hairy pull-up ... skilled rider see

My theory is that when something like that happens your arse sucks the seat so far up that it actually takes the weight off the back tyre just long enough to get it under control. That, and the fact there's no substitute for experience.
