I purchased a 2006 R3 about 3 months ago. I've had to bring it in twice with idling issues and they were not able to correct the problem. It would idle high and idle search about 60% of the time. About 2 weeks ago I was parking in a parking lot and when I turned the handlebars to the left the bars hit the tank and put a small dent and 2 scratches on the left side of the tank. I noticed it right off and stood the bike back up and turned the bars back straight and pulled down and noticed it was loose enough to force it further down. I had the tools to retighted it so I moved them to where when the bars where turned all the way to the left it was about 2.5" from the tank. NO MORE IDLING PROMBLEMS SINCE! It must have been the throttle cable having too much tension on it. I had noticed they were tight when I bought the bike. Now...my question is should Triumph repair my tank? sorry for the long post but I am going to the dealer today to discuss this with them and wanted some input.
