Does the Rocket III have a vertical run switch that shuts the engine down after the bike is sliding on it's side. I am looking at a damaged R-III that has the left muflfers, bars and pegs broken off. I am more interested in the health of the engine. Mostly did it shutdown or run on with no iol pressure....

That's interesting...My bike slid a total of about 60 feet, during which time it ricocheted off the guard rails. Back at the dealership a few days later, I was discussing the damage with the dealer...my big concern was the integrity of the engine, as there was some abrasion to the powder coat, amongst other "design changes" imparted on the bike by various stationary objects. Anyway, I asked him if it would start...he said they hadn't tried, but he turned the key, waited for the gage sweep, then hit the starter button. It fired right up and sounded fine. They totaled the bike 'cause I wouldn't accept the bike with the abraded powder coat, and replacing the engine block took it over the threshold. 8)
