I've ordered the new Ramair filter system and am most likely going with a new set of TORS for my '14 R3R, and am looking into tuning options. This is as far as I want to take it at this point, and just want a solid tune. Can you confirm that part #A9608077 is the right one for a '14 R3R? It's not listed on Triumph's website for that model, but I think it's the right one.

For tuning, I stopped by a local motorcycle dyno tuner this afternoon to talk about options with an experienced Triumph tuner, and he told me that Power Commander was the only option available, and that TuneECU and Tune Boy can't flash the ECU (if I understood him correctly) and he won't be able to do much useful with either of those. I don't know much about how any of these work (some modify the stock ECU signal, others flash the ECU, some are limited to stock parameters...), and wanted some experienced input. He said to purchase the Power Commander from him or anyone else, he didn't care, and he'd install it for $80 and tune for $300.

Further, on Power Commander's website, they now have a PC-EX that looks like it replaces the PC-V and is California CARB approved (I live in CA). Being CARB approved, does that mean it's not as effective? Also, PC only lists products for the 2004-08 R3. I've got an e-mail into them for clarification.

Thanks! Strange that I could find that page on PC's website...
What do you know about the PC-EX vs the PC-V?
Is the PC Autotune good enough to replace actual dyno time?

If TuneBoy and TuneECU modify the maps in the ECU, why would you need a Power Commander unit as well?

Also, as a follow up to my original post about the PC-EX and PC-V and California's CARB requirements, here's what I just received from Power Commander:

The Power Commander EX is a unit that we offer with a grey area in the map file which you are unable to make any fuel changes. That unit was one of our most recent product introductions and was developed for those areas of the country that have more stringent emission regulations (i.e. Calif.) and do not allow devices that change the fuel curve on pollution controlled vehicles to be legally driven on the street. Therefore that unit does not allow for fuel changes to be made in a substantial area of the map in order to gain legal status in those places. The original Power Commander PCIII USB and the new PCV allow for fuel changes to be made in the entire map as well as offering several more features which are omitted from the EX unit. It is now officially designated as “race ready” to differentiate between the two, and can make a substantial difference in power and performance. We do not specifically recommend one unit or the other, but leave that up to the individual to determine which unit best fits their needs and local regulations.

We only offer a PC5 “Race Ready” unit (PN:21-003) for this bike model. You can find it listed for the bike model on the “Race Ready” Power Commander website.

We do NOT currently have a PC5-EX available for this bike model.

Save your money!
Find a tuner that knows Tune ECU.
You DO NOT need a PCV or AT if the tuner knows his $hit!
Whoever told you different is full of it!

How do you really feel?
Recommended tuners are surprisingly difficult to find down here...

You're certain that the '14 R3R ECU can be flashed by TuneECU then? That would directly contradict what I was told at a dyno shop earlier today. :banghead:

The Power Commander E-Tec
Product Features
The PCV E-TEC is now available for 2010-2013 Ski Doo 800 E-TEC naturally aspirated applications. Similar to the standard PCV, it directly controls the factory fuel injection system (doesn’t add injectors or spoof sensors), allowing you to make fuel adjustments. These changes are necessary when modifying the exhaust, intake, or engine.

Its for jet skis.

the one they referred you to is the same as the link I gave you.

Alpental, I just had my '13 dyno'd without using a PC. Tuner is familiar with Tune ECU and Tune Boy programs.
