One reads many map related posts. A lot of people will install a modified map (usually the ETV and AFR) using for instance TuneECU etc. The whole procedure is explained and seems well covered. However there is not much feedback on how the real performance changed after the map (maybe I just did not see that?) So the question then: Is there a real noticeable difference after the map in a Rocket 3 for instance? If so I wonder why it is not applied more widely? I have a LX dongle and a registered copy of TuneECU, used to reset the service indicator on various bikes. Regards.

This chart was posted by Penner for the 2500cc Rocket. The blue is his unrestricted map. I believe the green is stock.

yes there is a very noticeable difference with an unrestricted map. the graph above translates directly to the feel when riding.
folks are unsure, scared and generally don't have the tools or willingness to change their maps.
i’ve not yet heard of post map issues.
bike is lot more responsive, mileage is better at normal speeds and the exhaust note is slightly different too.

Thanks! Good to hear! My plan for the coming week.... Regards

Some modifications cause a slight, or is it psychological (?), difference in performance. The Penner Tune is not in that category.

"Very noticeable difference" is correct. How noticeable? Put your rider mode in Road. Now change it to Sport. Yes, feel that? Now load the Penner Tune- you will most definitely feel THAT!

Good to know. Penner does not have a direct tune for my bike, however I copied the Penner changes to my map so that it looks the same in the ETV and AFR segments of the map. I have compared my map with the Penner one and it now looks the same. Regards.

Let us know what you think....

I uploaded my TuneECU map today. I made it a bit more aggressive by having the last 3 columns of ETV (3) all 100%. I copied the Penner AFR columns to my map. So in essence I kept Rain and Road mode as is but Sport mode now has the extra performance side added. I had no issues uploading the 19 minute procedure. After installing there were no issues flagged or errors reported. I did not do Adjustments but only let the bike idle for 17 minutes and then did a short 20 km test run. The Shift Assist (QS) and Cruise Control remained unaffected. I think it is after 5500 rpm that the bikes feels stronger... so below that it is as normal. I will do a longer run and also see how the fuel consumption is affected. Thank you to all who made inputs and suggestions - much appreciated! Regards!
