TuneBoy+D&D's+K&N's+O2 Removed = Pass emmisions testing?

Are we ready for the results, went in as it was (no cat, no O2, K&N's, TuneBoy, and D&D's)........drum roll please..........

PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

1800 HC allowed, I had 62
5.5 % CO allowed, I had 1.01

Seem to me all this extra weight in a cat and an O2 sensor are not needed......
Non of the emission equipment is actually needed for an engine in proper tune and condition. It's all for the folks who just know to put gas in the hole and drive until it stops moving. We would still be using points and carbs if everyone simply kept their vehicles in proper working order.

Congrats, good to know they will pass in fighting trim.

Interesting they don't use the OBD2 connection like they do for cars. I wonder if they even know new bikes have the same type connection.

Heck, they did not even look to see if the cat was there or not, sniffed it and that was it.

There are two types of lines, one for OBD testing with the exception of Motorcycles, ATV's and alternative fuel, the other was all the rest. So OBD is not even an issue on our bikes, just sniff and go...

So what tune are you running? I would be interested. Since you have probably enriched the fuel/air mixture; there are more gases being emitted than a normal stock tune creates. And that is what emission testing is all about.

Do you have a custom tune but it's actually lean?

Here in Delaware for cars they don't sniff anything, you make a stop on a hunter brake tester built into the ground and then they check lights, horn etc. last thing is they plug into the OBDII and check for codes. Since the MINI sets a code a month, I delete them before going through the inspection. I don't think they even give a **** about bikes, I've never seen one in line for the inspection. I think they just renew through the mail, I don't come up for renewal until 2013. They don't even want to see a new vehicle until 5 years has passed.

Arizona (Maricopa and Pima counties only) have a lot of emmision requirements. All 1967 to 1995 or 1996 get a sniff test yearly, from there to 5 years old go in every other year. OBDII just get the ECU read. If it has been reset within 50 starts you fail.

Most of the inspection techs are not very well trained. They can never figure out how to test my old truck (1979 Doge with full time 4 wheel drive) It should have to pass both an idle and run test but some of the techs won't do the run test as they are afraid it will jump off rollers. so I have ether been given a waiver (after paying fee), just done the idle test, or if they knew what they were doing took the whole test. they would usse a mirror to see if I had removed the cat but never looked at the muffler - both ends rusted out and whoe in bottom but they would put prope in tailpie and pass me.

 Isn't that kinda' like saying if people knew how to care for their animals we'd still be riding horses?
I love HEI and fuel injection!
