05 R3 Std
Hi hoping someone can answer this for me.

Can I use a R3R tune in a standard 05 Rocket?

Could someone tell me the difference between the two (other than the cosmetics) like how they get the additional power? i thought it was probably better exhaust and a re-tune as the motor spec seems essentially the same (could be wrong on this, please correct me, could be cam profiles maybe?).

If it's the same, and the R3R has a replacement slip on exhaust, K&N's etc, I'm thinking it will be OK.

My R3 std has a D&D, Triple K&N's, no O2 sensor and I have the Tune ECU, I have been using 20145MAP Jardine k triple filter, but it runs rich, which I expected really. It does however go pretty good, but with poor fuel economy, and if there's unburnt fuel its not going as good as it can is my thinking.

I have posted similar questions on another site if this question looks familiar and I hope this hasn't been covered in another post, would be happy for a link to it if so.

Thanks in advance

Mate the R3R has a different ecu so No you cant use that tune in the bike it wont work
I would personally go down the PCV route with a dyno or auto tune.
However if this isnt an option for u PM me your email and i will send you a tune you can try its one i was using on my 09 standard before i dialled her in with pcv and a dyno but it worked fairly well for me.
Its intended for triple filters /Tors cat removed and it also opens up the secondaries 100% and moves the rev limiter to 6800 which u can change back if you wish ignition tables copied from higher gears and 02 eliminated.
Send me a pm if u want to give it a go
Cheers Mitch:cool:

Hi Mitch

Thanks for the info on the R3R, won't try putting in the tune I had downloaded then.

Will PM for the tune and give it a go.

Would like to chuck it on a dyno for a tune but my missus would have a fit. Usually I do it then just suffer the consequences :D. As the saying goes "its better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done....." but i've pushed my luck a bit lately so the dyno will have to wait.

It did go pretty darn well with the tune I had in but I was only getting about 160km's before the fuel light came on and I used to get over 200. I have experimented with tunes a bit over the last few years and had just got a bit lazy with it.

I thought the old saying was
"it's better to ask forgiveness than permission".
At least that's the way I've always seen it,
maybe that's why me and the wife no longer live in the same house....

Regrets from a Butthole Surfers song "Sweat Loaf", great album from the 80's but the sentiments the same:)

As "she that must be obeyed" gave me the money to get the Rocket on the condition the Speed Triple went, when she first moved in with me I cannot really complain.
