Trouble's with tuneboy

I cannot get the ECU serial number, what is wrong.

1. You need to make sure that you have the correct type of tune open. Make sure you have a Keihin tune open if your bike has the Keihin ECU, the same applies for the Sagem, Webber, VDO and Delphi ECU's. Have a look at the list of tunes to select the correct tune for your bike.

2. If your cable is the new USB tuneboy cable and this shows up in the serial port drop down list as TuneBoy Cable(COMnn) then you need to have cable type set to 2, if the cable is listed as USB Serial Port(COMnn) then you should set the cable type USB.

3. Try removing the tick from "Precision timer" in the TuneEdit properties, also try adjusting the wait time as outlined in the troubleshooting section of the documentation.

There is also something about windows xp and 98 on the tuneboy site.

This is the xp 98 thing:
What Do I Do If The Software Crashes Under Win XP?

Simple, right mouse-click on the shortcut, select Properties, Compatibility, and select Win 98. This will fix the problem.

joe lucas

well I have my first problem 700 miles on clock
I took my son out on the bike and it had trouble pulling us
I should mention I am 6ft 2in 230 lb son is 16 250 lb 6ft 3in today
any way bike seems to be firing intermittently
could only pull 11o mph
I notice everyone talking about tune boy is this a common problem
I will take it back to dealer tomorrow but Iam concerned
I bet its those joe lucas computers that monitor and control the engine
