Transmission issue

The detent spring is relatively easy to check, and you will need to get the front cover off anyway even if that is not the problem. Instructions and manual are below.

You can get the clutch basket off and on with an air gun, without using the special tool, but if you are going to replace the clutch plates and steels, then you can make the tool out of the old parts anyway.

Tried to remove the oil pan with engine still installed on frame ,losened all bolts of oil pan but the dowel pins seem to be holding the pan rather firmly.Is there a specific procedure/tool needed to split oil pan from engine block.

The gasket may be stuck pretty good. Make damm sure all the bolts are out ! There are a few hiding between the ribs on the bottom of the pan. If you can, gently tap downward on the edge of the pan with a plastic mallet. The big allen head drain plug that drains the oil tank needs to come out too if it isn't already.

@v*twin first it is probably the gasket but there are usually two or three bolts that people miss. Anyway yours is a 05 in which there could have been two different types of some plates both work but the newer styles differences are mainly where the pick up screens are located/ My guess is to have one on each side of the engine so no matter which way your leaning the bike there will be oil in a screen. (Just my speculation though) anyway here is a couple pictures of the two styles and in Yellow the bolt locations 21 in each so count your bolts. In the newer style (painted Black) you will see three locations with two Yellow circles around them. These are the ones that usually get miss when the bike is right side up they are hard to see.
Also marked with red arrows are areas you can get a pry bar between the block and sump to loosen her up the gasket holds glue the first time.

Now if these are not the bolts your taking off then I suspect your trying to split the engine

Thanks wrap9.9,one bolt and the drain plug was holding on the oil pan.
Found quite a bit of debris in oil pan,can anyone please identify these debris if this is dent spring or any other part

V*twin my friend your debris look awfully similar to the one I found in the sump of my bike. the cages on the rollers of the bearings were gone I had to change both output shaft bearings . rocket scientist and warpo guided me into that procedure .
triumph should have issued a recall on those bearings but chose instead to package an "upgrade" kit in which bearings were included. dealership will charge you around 25 hrs labor for this let us know what you intend to do

Yep definitely out put shaft bearings. I see you have the older style sump pan.
Anyway that is the cage that separated the roller in the bearings she must have been hollering

You can see why the oil pressure light came on. That screen is plugged. Did you shut the engine off when you noticed the light or did it quit? Hope you shut it off and it didn't seize. Does it turn over now?

If you can't get the upgrade kit from Triumph, there were a number on sale from several of the members on this site recently.

Engine moves freely and engine was running, I was not able load engine in any gear.
I was planning to sell the motorcycle for $5500 this summer (excluding Triumph saddlebag ,foglight, clock, remote lock), has 27K miles on in pretty good condition otherwise. Now guess I will have to decide between getting repaired by a dealer vs buy a running motor of Ebay or selling motorcycle as it is for $3k.

I haven't rebuilt a motorcycle engine before ,may take upon rebuilding this one.
To get to output shaft does the entire engine have to be disassembled and how much approx $ in parts would be needed for gasket & other parts for this rebuild
