Torque settings?

Is there a clever way of checking the torque of a nut? ie.Can you check the torque it takes to undo the nut?

I have a head gasket to replace on a mini-tractor (ISEKI 1500) but don't have the cylinder head torque settings for re-assembly....
 
If you take your torque wrench, and set it low, you can turn it towards tightening, and it should click (because you have set it low).

Increase the torque setting slowly upwards, checking at each stage - you will see when it gets to the actual setting that the nuts are set at, as it will start to turn the nut.

The previous setting will be the one.
 
Sounds like the same thing as I had in mind, but the other way around - minor adjustments on the wrench until the nut starts to undo. Thanks.
 
Have you tryed to google for the settings for the tractor .


Think that you will be going way to tight otherwise
 
Tighten the bolt until it starts to get loose again (starting to shear) then back 2 flats.

Works on RAF aircraft !!!
