My bikes are not radically changed from stock. 08 R3T, and 15 R3T. Enjoy both very much. I’ve Been an open book on my mistakes, my wasted money on junk to put on them. Yet I sure don’t putz around at 45 mph. My mileage runs from 38 to 43 mpg. Riding with other guys on Rockets we tend to violate the assigned speed limit ... some. When riding with my wife or other couples, pretty close to posted speed Limits. Then I hear rider/owners talk of mid to high 20s for Rockets. The only guy I know that has that kind of engine is Kevin, or maybe Steele. What’s going on with the “numbers”.?

The best ive gotten is 31 on my 08 r3t. But usually 26mpg. Ramair, tors. Nels tune. Aside from going fast, like me, are you taking your time getting there? Just dont get how you can be getting such good mileage. We are talking miles not kilometer right?

Sure. I live near Kalamazoo Mi. One time on vacation with the 08, the bike I’ve got in my picture, towing a trailer, riding double to Tennessee going thru Kentucky riding double, I believe the mileage got down to32 mpg. This was taking crap roads. Heck, I knew the mileage would suck, because being on some of the roads weren’t even on the map! True back country, pushing it, half lost. This bike has always been roadworthy. Never let us down. 65,000 and running strong.

Whats your mods? Tune pipes intake? Other than that i guess they're not all created the same.

For sure. The 08 has TORS exhaust. I have a Ramair intake. That’s about it. My tune was given to me by a member on our forum. I’m drawing a brain fade. Can’t remember his name. Basically almost O.E.M. I’m a flat lander, I went on a day ride with Warp and Steel in Tennessee. I can’t run with the best. They were much better in the twists and turns. Rode for many years and never lagged behind like that day. My enjoyment surely slowed them down. My bad...

Yeah. Ive been meaning to ride it more conservatively, but thats no fun. If i can get better gas mileage i will, but not at the expense of fun. Might as well be riding a 250 rebel.
It’s hard to take the mileage thing as a priority. Kind of ridiculous when you think about it. I just use the odometer on trips. When riding double and longer distances, I try to run 200 miles on a fill. Multiple days going to a destination can be a little monotonous. We ride together with two other Rockets to the Mighty Mac at least once a year. 318 miles each way. The couples on Harleys seem to go longer between fills than the Rockets. Makes for conversation with H.D. comments explaining why big H.P. engines need gas stations on every corner.... When they catch up!
