on my way to work monday at about 6:15 am I was heading south and another driver (who was heading north) executes a left turn across my lane. This causes me to lock up my brakes and this causes me to drop and slide. Luckily I didn't contact anyting besides the road. the bike slid along on its left side while I slid and rolled on both sides.
The driver of the other vehicle saw what he had done and chose to flee the scene.
I was on my feet asap so I could avoid being hit by another fine citizen of middletown OH. I had a lot of pain in my ribs and shoulder blade on my left side also had road rash on my hands knees and elbows although my ff helmet and armored jacket saved me from the worst of it.
I was transported to The Atrium hospital in middletown where I was diagnosed with 6 broken ribs. I spent the night, coming home yesterday.
I call last night to discover the tow bill is in excess of 300.00 to tow it less than a half mile and store it 2 nights. rather than pay even more storage a friend and I go bail it out this morning and with a bit of cpr we get it started and my friend rides it home, beause luckily the damage is mostly cosmetic. I am waiting to hear from geico's claim adjuster to see what will happed.
While I have had other motorcycle accidents this is the first to have me admitted to the hospital(the same day anyway).
My jacket and helmet saved me from very serious injury and if my bike had abs maybe the spill could have been avoided altogether (maybe). Just very thankful that everything still works and I will be fine.

Sorry to hear about the stupid driver -- any chance you have enough of a description for the cops to go after the driver ? I imagine at that time in Dayton, it was pitch black.

Glad you're here to tell about it -- and THANK YOU for sharing. ALL of us are at risk for this.

Hope you heal quickly -- ribs are tough -- and all of us can stand reinforcement of ATGATT.

I've been there and done that (front wheel lock-up) -- on a different bike -- totally my fault in that case -- following too close in congested traffic in the rain.

First time on a trip on the Rocket with my wife, we were two up, going down a steep hill in western North Carolina, and there was loose gravel, and the ABS kicked in repeatedly and I was able to keep us up and slow enough to make a sharp turn at the bottom. Just sayin'

Again, hope you heal quickly -- and get back on your ride soon.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. Don't laugh, breath, cough, move, reach for your zipper or any other normal motion. You will feel like you are being stabbed every time you move. Whatever you do, dont sneeze. That just feels like death. I have broken so many ribs so many times. I hope you heal quickly.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not surprised in the least the driver didn't stick around to see if you were okay. That is becoming the norm. I was riding a bit today and had several people play... lets pull out in front of the motorcycle. Really starting to piss me off! Good to hear you are not any worse...It still was pretty bad.:mad::mad:
